  The Director’s Chair: Best Practices for Scaling L&D Video Creation with GenAI

  In L&D, generative AI can be leveraged through every step of video production, but where is the best place to start? In this session, we will explore the critical stages of video creation, drawing on multiple large language models (LLMs) perspectives to identify optimal best practices for generative AI video production in talent development today.

  We ask ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot for their top five best practices for generative AI video creation, and panelists compare their outputs to understand each model’s unique perspective and capabilities from a strategic and tactical perspective.

  

  Key Concepts:

  Each LLM is asked to provide their top five best practices with a brief explanation, a concrete workplace learning example, and 1–2 beginner-friendly generative AI tools that support that stage of the video production process.

  Victoria Brenes is a third-year doctoral student at Nova Southeastern University, with a focus on integrating generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into computer science education.

  She serves as Director of the Learning Technologies SIG at ATDSFL, where she founded and leads the AI Workgroup. Her background includes web development and computer science instruction.

  Victoria has published research on computer science and GenAI education and presented at conferences in the US and abroad.

  

  Leonardo Arango

  An award-winning Learning Experience Designer, Leo Arango provides instructional design, project management, and multimedia web design solutions for Weatherby Healthcare (a Fortune 500 CHG Healthcare company).

  He specializes in technical writing and digital curriculum strategy, evidenced by his recent launch of Weatherby's onboarding transformation. Leo’s background includes receiving the 2024 Leadership Honor from the Department of Energy for innovating training that served 14,000 employees.

  Jess Almlie is an award-winning learning and talent development strategist, consultant, and speaker with 30 years of experience helping organizations elevate L&D from reactive service providers to strategic business partners. A former vice president of learning, Jess now works with companies and L&D teams to align learning with business strategy, build leader and team capability, and drive measurable performance results.

  Jess is a frequent speaker and workshop facilitator at ATD conferences and events and has proudly served as both a local chapter leader and a national advisor for chapters (NAC). She is also the host of the L&D Must Change podcast and author of L&D Order Taker No More! Become a Strategic Business Partner (ATD Press). In 2025, Jess was honored with the Learning Guild Master award for her contributions to advancing the learning profession.

  

  

  The ATD South Florida Chapter has been pre-approved by the   ATD Certification Institute to offer educational programs that can be used towards initial eligibility and recertification of Certified Professionals in Talent Development (CPTD) and Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) credentials. This program qualifies for a maximum of 0.5 points.
