Beyond the Basics: The Prompt Architect - Transforming Generic AI into Professional L&D Content

Join Steve Yudewitz (VP of Technology at ATDSFL) and Victoria Brenes (Director of the Learning Technologies SIG and AI Workgroup at ATDSFL) for a practical, deep-dive session on Prompt Engineering. This is the critical skill that transforms generic AI output into high-quality instructional and learning content.

This session goes beyond basic commands, providing you with a structured, step-by-step approach to engineering prompts that consistently generate high-quality instructional content. We will be building a prompt live. Then, you will have a chance to write a prompt of your own.

Key Concepts:

  • Assigning the Expert Persona: Learn how defining the AI's role forces the model to access its most relevant knowledge and produce elevated, professional outputs.

  • Defining the Task: Learn to clearly specify the deliverable and the learning outcomes to ensure the AI's entire output is focused and purposeful.

  • Structuring the Output: We will show you how to structure the prompt to demand a specific, professional format.

  • The Value of Guardrails: See how to include a requirement that compels the AI to justify its design decisions by referencing industry best practices.

  • Iterative Reprompting: Master the art of refining the first draft with precise, targeted instructions. Learn to correct flaws without starting over.

This session will equip you with a reusable prompt template that you can immediately apply to your next content development project.
