Reading the Hybrid Room with Word Cloud, Liz Wool

Planning and timing is critical to effectively engage learners in a hybrid environment. Just as in face-to-face training, there are some learners who are very quiet. And virtually, you simply don't have full body language to gauge learning transfer. The secret sauce is to maximize use of technology to read the room.

By integrating word clouds into your hybrid training, you will be able to read the room with ease and determine:

  • Are they understanding and synthesizing the course content?
  • Are they exhibiting critical thinking skill that indicate knowledge transfer back to the job?
  • Do we give the leaners the ability to provide feedback and allow them to be heard?
  • Do we check in with the learners to make sure they have everything they need to be successful back on the job?

  • With twenty years in GCP compliance, education and  virtual, hybrid, and in-person training, Liz’s positions as a Research Nurse, Clinical Research Associate (CRA), Study Manager, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Compliance Director, Training Department Manager, and Global Head of Training affords her a 360º objective view of the research enterprise and desired performance and learning outcomes. Liz leverages her experience and expertise in these areas to harness her strategic, focused, results-oriented approach in supporting and leading organizations in training solutions that are a ‘right fit’ with a focus on the desired outcomes and organizational performance for both the present and the future.

  • Liz is a certified instructional designer, virtual trainer, training manager and master trainer. Liz serves as the Chief Learning Officer for Wool Consulting Group and Wool Training Institute. Anticipating and Preparing for the Challenges of Hybrid Training, Evan Plummer

Hybrid training can be the best option to reach the remote learners, while responding to those learners that have returned to work. What isn't quite optimal is how to plan ahead to not only meet, but anticipate, the challenges of providing one singular training content through two delivery methods. We'll work together step-by-step to plan hybrid training, from set up, tech run throughs, preparing guest facilitators and evaluations, making sure we have quality outcomes for those in chairs and on screens.

Learning Objectives:

  • Know how to best prepare for a hybrid training, e.g., logistics, tech setup, guest facilitators, etc.
  • Understand how to blend two distinct delivery approaches
  • Prepare for a hypothetical hybrid session

Evan Plummer is a learning and development specialist who grows leaders and drives performance through thoughtful training programs. Currently, he is leading employee capacity building efforts at the Port of Miami.

With a background in arts education, Evan pioneered professional learning strategies educators and increased peer-to-peer learning to expand workforce development.

These experiences help him design arts-based learning experiences that can solve complex workplace challenges.
