Ready, Set, MOBILE! Evolving Traditional Training for a Mobile-first Delivery Approach

Many technology advances that enable meaningful learning experiences served up via tablets and mobile devices are settling in, refining and are ready for prime time. Now that the technology is ready, where do I begin? The digitalization of content to mobile-ready platforms requires a new way of thinking about our existing content: how it’s designed, served up and rendered for our learners. In this session, we will discuss the differences in design approach, the important factors and considerations you need to be thinking about, and the various types of technology. Most importantly, we’ll look at this with lens of sorting out what makes the most sense for your organization! The session will close “hackathon style,” and you will have a hands-on opportunity to begin planning a rich, fully-mobile learning experience.

Session objectives:

  • Explain how the design approach for mobile learning differs from the approach used to develop ILT or eLearning, or other, more traditional training.
  • Describe the considerations when converting existing training (ILT, eLearning, blended or self-study) to a mobile-first delivery approach.
  • Recall the categories of tools that can be used in different ways to create highly-collaborative mobile learning experience.
  • Apply a simple approach to a common training topic to storyboard part of a comprehensive mobile learning solution.
