Talking the Talk - What AI terms are essential to be able to collaborate effectively?

The AI Workgroup takes a collaborative approach to staying up to date with a CONSTANTLY changing, radically evolving AI landscape. To truly understand AI tools - and each other when we discuss how to leverage them - we need a shared language. This “gathering” is a foundational session designed to give you a clear understanding of AI from the ground up!

Event Details:

In this essential overview, we will demystify the core concepts of Artificial Intelligence, providing you with a solid understanding of what AI is and is not. We will break down common vocabulary, clarifying the differences between terms you are hearing everywhere, such as:

  • Large Language Models (LLMs): What they are and how they work.
  • Prompt Engineering: The art and science of communicating effectively with AI.
  • Other key terms that will help you navigate the AI landscape with confidence.

Our Panelists share the results from three different chatbots to our vital question - : ”What AI terms are essential to be able to collaborate effectively?” Each will share their insights and provide their own list of the 10 most essential terms from a practical perspective.

Previously, she served as the Assistant Provost for the Center for eLearning for six years. Her research focuses on using AI for instructional purposes in support of critical thinking, AI for supporting instructional designers, and perceptions of AI use by preservice teachers. To improve student outcomes, she has created an agent for online courses. Over the summer, she worked with a group of students to develop training modules for FAU students in the best ways to use AI in ethically ways and protect academic integrity.

The AI Workgroup Gatherings are FREE for ATD South Florida chapter members.

This inaugural event is open to all but future Gatherings will be member-only events.
