Business Analytics - Fear Not!


“Business analytics” may produce a somewhat resentful feeling – after all not all of us always like to measure and be measured. Estimates and data-driven predictions can be confusing and overwhelming. Yet, most successful companies and professionals base their strategy and daily decisions on data.

Data will serve us only if it is gathered and analyzed appropriately for our needs. The presentation will address the importance of data analytics in business.

Our speaker will give an overview of the three business analytics components - descriptive, predictive and prescriptive - followed by their application and importance in Talent Development. Audience will also have at opportunity to discover the latest and greatest popular analytical tools and explore their power of conducting analytics seamlessly and effectively.

  • Discuss the application of business analytics in Talent Development.
  • Understand business practices for analyzing real world datasets using the popular analytical tools such as Tableau and Power BI.

Our Presenter: Bharti Sharma, Ph.D

Dr. Bharti Sharma has been teaching various Business Analytics courses in the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University since the last four years. She has published research papers related to data analytics in prominent journals. She also has post-doctoral experience performing data analytics in the Biomedical engineering department at the University of Miami. Prior to her career in academia, she gained twelve years of extensive business analysis and programming experience working for the corporate sector (Florida Power & Light company). As an educator, she believes in delivering the highest quality teaching content and focuses on hands-on learning using latest analytical tools. 


This event has been pre-approved by the ATD Certification Institute for continuing education credits towards professional development hours for initial eligibility and recertification of the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) and Associate Professional  in Talent Development (APTD) credentials for a maximum of one (1) credit point for  one (1) hour of instruction points.
