 Arise & Shine: Taking Care of Yourself While Supporting and Developing Your Team

In this session, we will have an an opportunity to will learn how to integrate self-care (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual) into their daily lives. Merary will capitalize on the framework from the book “The Corporate Athlete”, to guide the audience on how to take the best care of themselves while developing others. We will reflect on our own experiences as Talent Development practitioners during COVID-19, and the challenges that affect our physical health and state of mind.

Learning objectives:

  • Review how Physical Capacity builds endurance and promotes mental and emotional recovery.
  • Discuss how Emotional Capacity creates the internal climate that dives the Ideal Performance State.
  • Explore how Mental Capacity focuses physical and emotional energy on the task on hand.
  • Describe how Spiritual Capacity provides a powerful source of motivation, determination, and endurance.
  • Understand how Rituals promote oscillation—the rhythmic expenditure and recovery of energy—linking the capacities.

    Presenter: Merary Simeon

Merary Simeon is the founder of the ACTivate Conference, board member of the Women’s Food Service Forum and advisory board member of Back on My Feet, ministry volunteer, and proven Human Resources Executive with more than 20 years of experience working for various Fortune 100 companies in North America and Latin America. Her diverse experiences have equipped her with a deep understanding of the needs and opportunities critical to leaders and associates alike at all levels. Her leadership expertise includes Diversity & Inclusion, Talent Management, Leadership Consulting, Culture Change, Executive Coaching, and Public Speaking.

Merary is currently pursuing her doctorate in strategic leadership at Regent University. Merary has a master’s degree in Human Resources from Fordham University and is a certified Hogan Assessment Coach.

She is a native of Puerto Rico and currently resides in Frisco, Texas, with her family. She credits her success to Jesus Christ. “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength,” Philippians 4:13.
