Meet Sergio Buth, Founder and President of the Strategic Performance Development Institute and President-Elect of ATD South Florida. With over 25 years growing in the talent development space, Sergio is focused on one simple idea: make learning fun, relevant, engaging, and applicable.
In His Own Words
Tell us about a work project that you’re absolutely crushing and are super proud of right now! Who is supporting you on the project with whom you want to share the spotlight?
The new year just kicked off, so in his role as President-Elect,
there are many ongoing projects in motion. One of the fresh
initiatives is the ATDSFL Podcast project, led by Kim Lamothe,
Rachel Cuevas, and Michael Hugue, sponsored and supported by the
executive team.

Why should others get involved with ATD South Florida? What have you gained by being a part of the organization?
“Come and join us. ATDSFL makes me feel valued and welcomed. I
appreciate that our members care about each other and offer a safe
space to grow my skills, my networks and career opportunities.”
What’s your all-time favorite learning tool or strategy that never fails to engage?
Make learning fun, relevant, engaging and applicable!
When you’re not transforming lives, what do you love doing for fun that brings you joy?
Sergio loves being outdoors with his family — jet skiing on the
water, firing up the grill for a backyard cookout, and taking on the
occasional fair ride. He has a deep passion for both sides of
five-star cooking: preparing it, serving it, and eating it. And
sometimes the best fun is simply recharging at home, alone or with
family and friends.
What sparks your creativity and gets your energy flowing? Who or what inspires you to reach new heights?
“Oh my, where to start. Creativity comes to me in many forms
— an idea, a line in a book, a conversation that lingers, or
even a needs assessment. My inspiration can come from within or
from the world around me. I also enjoy collaborating, experimenting,
and finding things that work. That feeling of making meaningful
impact is energizing, and it’s a feeling I love returning to
again and again.”
