Lourdes recently retired after 37 years in Corporate Technical Training Management at Fortune 500 companies in the Telecommunications and High Tech field. She has been volunteering as a Director in ATD SFL since 2016 in various capacities.

Q
Tell us about a previous work project that you are super proud of right now!
A
The last major project I was involved was about 15 months ago, where a request for a training needs analysis turned into a corporate culture assessment via interviews with 36 upper management VPs and Directors of a very large Cable and internet company in Mexico.

What sparks your creativity and gets your energy flowing? Who or what inspires you to reach new heights?
A
Feeling like I’m making a difference with volunteering or mentoring a young person.

Why should others get involved with ATD South Florida? What have you gained by being a part of the organization?
A
It is a great community of professionals that are willing to befriend you.

When you’re not transforming lives, what do you love doing for fun that brings you joy?
A
Now that I’m retired, I spend 2-3 hours at the YMCA taking all kinds of exercise classes: traditional strength training, yoga, mat Pilates or Zumba. Recently we bought an RV and are beginning nomadic episodes of itinerant travels.

A
PowerPoint and a robust LMS.

What’s your all-time favorite learning tool or strategy that never fails to engage?
A
Sharing your experiences and joking about failures.
