Greetings, everyone. I'm the current VP of Member Services and Former VP of Technology for ATD South Florida. I serve the AI Workgroup as a Coordinator.

I have been fortunate to have been an early adopter of many of the key technologies supporting the Talent Development process. These include PC Training (1981), Computer Based Simulations (1983), Online Learning Management (1985), Online Assessments (1993), Web Based Training (1995), Agile Learning (1995) , Virtual Classroom (1997), Hybrid Learning (1999), Social Learning (2009) and MicroLearning (2011).

AI presents opportunities that touch every corner of Talent Development, (indeed, every corner of our lives). While I was not an early adopter of AI other than Expert Systems and Knowledge Management implementations many years ago, I am eager to learn from the TRUE Early Adopters in this Community.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the forum!

I’m Victoria Brenes, the Director of the Learning Technologies SIG. I am the founder and leader of the AI Workgroup as well as the developer of the AI Workgroup pages and instructional materials you will find on our website. I created this forum as a way for us to connect outside of our AI meetings.

I am originally from South Florida, but I am currently based in France. I am a third-year doctoral student focusing on the integration of generative AI into the computer science classroom. I have published and presented my research in the US and abroad. I have also worked as a web developer and computer science instructor.

I am so excited to meet all of you!

    Hi,

As the VP of Technology for ATD-SFL. I’m thrilled to be the host and moderator of our AI workgroup sessions.

Though generally an early adapter of technology and tools, I admit I’m a little late to the AI scene. Like most, I experimented with image generation and large language models, initially treating them more like toys than tools. Then I started seeing the great possibilities and potential pitfalls of the use of AI.

In my two decades in organizational development and learning, tools and technology have changed. Regardless of the tools used to assist us, leveraging the fundamentals of instructional design, facilitation, and learner motivation were what led us to our greatest successes.

By bringing professionals, thought leaders, and students together, we’ll explore solutions that combine the science of learning, our practical experience in the field, and the best AI tools for the task at hand, be they for content creation, automation, analysis, or research. We’ll discuss how AI is being used effectively. In discussions and forums, we’ll share our approaches to getting the most out of AI tools without sacrificing the learner experience.  Together, we’ll develop a resource library and create a collaborative community of practice.

The AI workgroup is a labor of love, powered by a phenomenal team working behind the scenes to deliver a program that helps learning and development practitioners leverage AI tools to improve processes and training programs in an ethical and quality focused manner. Our approach is practical and encourages multiple perspectives, critical thinking, and solution focused discussions.

I’m looking forward to exploring with you!

Hello, AI-curious mates! My name is Jimmy Glenos and I am Pres-elect and work as a Work/Life Performance Coach. I don't use AI very much but I am familiar with quite a bit of the workings of it. I do like to use ChatGPT as a generative source to banter with on ideas for talks, podcasts, or any other creative work I do. Looking forward to some creative discussions on AI.

Hi everyone — I’m Barb Potter. By day, I lead Sales Enablement in the Identity Security space, and by night I build AI tools, write books, and develop digital content. I launched AIdeate (virtualtrainingpros.com/aideate), a generative AI app that accelerates LinkedIn content creation, and I’m developing a second app designed to spark creative activities aligned with Potter’s Engagement Taxonomy™ (virtualtrainingpros.com/engage).

I’m also writing several books — a summer beach read titled The Ocean Between Us, and a series of L&D e-books focused on virtual training and content creation. I’m looking forward to collaborating with this workgroup and exploring how we can push the boundaries of AI in learning, writing, and engaging.

    Hello All,

This work group marks the beginning of an exciting journey. Generative AI has ushered in a transformative era at an astonishing pace—almost in the blink of an eye. As a powerful tool, it has enabled us to reimagine how we work.

As a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Florida Atlantic University, I’ve embraced AI to enhance both instructional design and research. This semester, I developed an AI agent aimed at deepening student engagement with course materials, with the goal of improving learning outcomes and persistence.

I’m looking forward to the rich discussions ahead, and I’m hopeful that together we can chart a new path for using AI to cultivate talent and innovation within our organizations.

    – Dr. Victoria Brown
