Redesigning Learning:

Meeting the Needs of New Supervisors

This presentation will explore the evolving needs of new supervisors in today's dynamic work environment and address the importance of supervisors in driving employee engagement.

Uncertainty about the future, declining budgets and competing resources, and lack of trust
within teams... these are workplace challenges today’s new supervisors experience. According to Gallup's State of the Global Workplace Report: 2025, organizations continue to report a decline in employee engagement. This disengagement carries substantial costs, including decreased productivity and a negative impact on overall life satisfaction.

While this may sound ominous, it actually provides a powerful opportunity for organizations. The engagement effect starts with people managers! Organizations that rethink the role of
supervisors to drive engagement and invest in training their new supervisors reap the benefits of higher productivity, better attendance, stronger retention, and greater results.

In this session you will:

  • Learn about the changing needs of new supervisors in a rapidly evolving workplace
  • Be introduced to a Case Study of an organization that redesigned mandatory learning for new people managers, with a focus on how to leverage current learning opportunities in a strategic way to support desired learning outcomes
  • Take part in an activity where you will identify possible opportunities within your own organization to redesign learning to better meet the needs of your new supervisors

The target audience for this session includes:

  • Those working internal to organizations who are responsible for training and learning initiatives
  • Those working with organizations on a consulting basis who help design training and learning programs
  • Anyone interested in learning more about this topic!
